WSEEC 2026 brings young innovators together in Jakarta
Jakarta, Indonesia — The 6th World Science, Environment and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) 2026 successfully brought together a new generation of young researchers and innovators, reinforcing the importance of international platforms where science, creativity and collaboration can thrive.
Organised by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Pancasila, the competition was held in a hybrid format, with online activities from 5–7 August and the in-person programme from 11–14 August 2026 at Universitas Pancasila in Jakarta.
This sixth edition welcomed 248 teams from 10 countries, bringing together students from elementary, secondary and university levels. Their projects covered seven fields: Life Sciences, Mathematics, Energy and Engineering, Environment, Physics, Technology and Social Sciences. Of the participating teams, 176 joined online and 72 took part in the on-site programme.
Beyond the competition itself, WSEEC provided young people with an opportunity to present their research, exchange ideas across cultures and explore how science and technology can respond to real-world challenges. This approach reflects WSEEC's wider purpose of strengthening STEM education and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence through research and innovation.
The successful conclusion of WSEEC 2026 was made possible by the commitment of its organising committee and staff. Special recognition goes to Mr Deni Irawan, President of the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA), and to the entire IYSA team, together with Universitas Pancasila, for their continued work in creating international spaces where young minds can connect, challenge themselves and transform ideas into meaningful solutions.
With another successful edition completed, WSEEC continues to demonstrate how international scientific events can do more than recognise achievement: they can inspire curiosity, build bridges between countries and empower young people to see themselves as part of the future of science and innovation.
