IGO 2026: Young Innovators Shine in London
The International Greenwich Olympiad (IGO) 2026 was defined by the energy, creativity, and determination of its participants. With 362 finalists from 53 countries, the Olympiad became a vibrant showcase of youth innovation, cultural diversity, and global friendship.
The Opening Ceremony captured the spirit of the event. Flags of all participating nations were raised in a symbolic Global Showcase, followed by a performance from North London Grammar School students. Keynote addresses encouraged curiosity, perseverance, and global citizenship—values that resonated throughout the week.
At Queen Mary University of London, the exhibition and judging day was a highlight. A total of 538 projects were presented and evaluated, tackling challenges from local community issues to global sustainability. Categories spanned scientific research, STEM storytelling, drama, and public speaking, reflecting the breadth of talent among participants. Judges noted a remarkable rise in quality compared to previous years, underscoring the sophistication and commitment of the young innovators.
Beyond the competition, the Olympiad offered unforgettable cultural and social experiences. Educational visits to London and Oxford allowed students to explore British heritage, while the lively Culture Night celebrated national identities through music, dance, and traditional dress.
