MILSET Brazil 2026 Brings Together More Than 200 Scientific Projects
From 19 to 23 May 2026, the city of Fortaleza, in north-eastern Brazil, hosted MILSET Brazil 2026, the largest MILSET event ever held in the country. Set against the backdrop of the Atlantic coast, the event brought together science, education, culture, innovation, and international exchange in a unique environment that welcomed more than 200 research, innovation, and entrepreneurship projects from all regions of Brazil, alongside invited delegations from five Latin American countries.
MILSET Brazil is a nationwide initiative that connects children, adolescents, and young adults aged 4 to 23 through science and innovation as powerful tools for social transformation. More than a science fair, the event serves as a platform where young people can develop critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills while presenting solutions to real challenges faced by their communities.
Throughout five days of activities, participants engaged in scientific exhibitions, project evaluations, workshops, talks, cultural experiences, networking sessions, and educational programmes designed not only for students but also for teachers, mentors, educational leaders, and members of the local community. This comprehensive approach expands the event’s impact far beyond the exhibition floor and strengthens connections among education, science, and society.
Aligned with international standards of safety, quality, inclusion, and sustainability, MILSET Brazil reinforces its commitment to creating a safe and inspiring environment where young researchers can thrive. The event also contributes directly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Partnerships for the Goals.
In a country of continental dimensions such as Brazil, connecting students from diverse geographic, social, and cultural backgrounds represents a significant challenge—and an even greater opportunity. Through its network of affiliated fairs, educational initiatives, partner institutions, and annual programmes, MILSET Brazil reaches every region of the country, creating opportunities for thousands of young people to engage with science regardless of where they live.
According to Mateus Dedê, Executive Director of MILSET Brazil:
“MILSET is an environment that creates connections, generates social impact, and, above all, opens opportunities for young researchers and future entrepreneurs to feel recognised, gain visibility, and find pathways to transform the realities of their local communities. In a country as diverse and vast as Brazil, bringing together talents from different regions is one of the greatest contributions we can make to the future.”
The 2026 edition further reinforced MILSET Brazil’s position as one of Latin America’s leading platforms for youth scientific engagement and innovation. By bringing together young talents, educators, institutions, and communities, the event continues to fulfil its mission of inspiring, connecting, and empowering the next generation of scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.
As Brazil continues to strengthen its role within the global MILSET network, MILSET Brazil stands as a powerful example of how science education can foster inclusion, create opportunities, and contribute to building a more sustainable, innovative, and collaborative world.
