MILSET AMLAT Joins the Launch of “Astronaut Teacher” Featuring Puerto Rican Astronaut Aymette Medina

On May 14, an important gathering took place at the Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico City, bringing together representatives from the aerospace, business, educational, and technological sectors across Latin America during the official launch of the documentary starring Puerto Rican teacher and astronaut Aymette Medina.

The audiovisual production, promoted and sponsored by Farmacias Similares, represents one of the most significant documentary projects in the Latin American aerospace sector in recent years, portraying a deeply human, inspiring, and transformative story.

Founded in 1997 by Víctor González Torres, Farmacias Similares revolutionized access to generic medicines and affordable healthcare services in Mexico under the vision of making healthcare accessible to millions of people. In recent years, the company has been led by Víctor González Herrera, who has promoted a new stage focused on social innovation, sustainability, education, and international impact projects. Under his leadership, Farmacias Similares and Grupo Por Un País Mejor have strengthened social, environmental, and educational programs, consolidating a business vision centered on human values and social transformation.

The documentary portrays Aymette Medina’s journey toward becoming one of the first Latin American women to experience a suborbital spaceflight carried out by Blue Origin, the renowned aerospace company founded by Jeff Bezos. Beyond the flight itself, the production delivers a powerful message to new generations: dreams related to science, space, and technology can become reality through preparation, perseverance, faith, and constant effort.

For many years, Aymette Medina has dedicated an important part of her professional career to training students and educators through STEM-related programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), especially promoting areas such as robotics, electronics, and information technologies — disciplines that currently play a fundamental role in the new trends of the international aerospace sector.

The MILSET delegation, represented by Eng. José Alberto García Torres, had the opportunity to participate in this important launch, further strengthening the connections between scientific education, innovation, and youth inspiration initiatives in Latin America. This participation was coordinated through the MILSET AMLAT Region.

Likewise, during the event, MILSET, through the MILSET AMLAT Secretariat, formally delivered the official invitation letter to Aymette Medina, who will participate as a special guest at the next edition of Expo Ciencias Latinoamericana MILSET ESI AMLAT 2026, an international event that will bring together students, researchers, educators, and educational leaders from across Latin America in the city of Medellín, Colombia.

The event also included the participation of private sector authorities, representatives of technological and aerospace companies such as Simi Space, as well as special guests linked to scientific and technological development in Mexico and Latin America.

MILSET’s participation in this type of initiative reaffirms its commitment to promoting science, technology, and innovation as fundamental tools to transform society, inspire new generations, and build a future where knowledge becomes increasingly accessible to everyone.
